Cutting Board Care Instructions
Your handcrafted cutting board is built to last, but proper care is essential to maintain its beauty and durability. Follow these simple steps to keep your board in excellent condition:
1. Cleaning Your Cutting Board
- DO NOT put your board in the dishwasher or soak it in water—this will cause warping and cracking.
- After each use, wash the board with mild dish soap and warm water. Use a soft sponge or cloth to wipe it clean.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a towel.
- Stand the board upright or on its edge to allow even airflow and prevent moisture buildup.
2. Conditioning Your Board
- To keep your board hydrated and protected, apply the included cutting board conditioner (beeswax + food-safe mineral oil) every 3-4 weeks or as needed.
- Ensure the board is completely dry before applying.
- Use a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel to rub a generous amount of conditioner over the entire surface, including the sides.
- Let it sit for at least 15 minutes, then buff off any excess with a dry cloth.
3. Preventing Damage
- Avoid exposing the board to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for long periods.
- Use both sides of the board to prevent uneven wear.
- Never cut directly on the engraved side (if applicable) to preserve the design.
- If deep knife marks or stains appear, lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper, then reapply the board conditioner.
4. Removing Odors & Stains
- For lingering smells (like garlic or onion), rub the surface with coarse salt and half a lemon, then rinse with warm water.
- To remove stains, make a paste of baking soda and water, apply it to the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse.
By following these steps, your cutting board will stay in excellent condition for years to come. Thank you for supporting handcrafted quality!
